BORU 2008 (TUBE) TURKEY  was carried out !.

The 4 th International Tube, Pipe, Fittings & Machinery Fair opened its doors to visitors on Thursday 28 February till Sunday evening 02 March 2008 at the İstanbul Expo Center.

Mevlut Vural (ISKI) Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration  General Manager, Bilal Arslan (IGDAS) Istanbul Gas Distribution Industry Co. General Manager, Ömer Faruk Doğan Turkish Foreign Trade Deputy Undersecretary, Philip Knigt ITA Executive Secretary and Hüseyin Boz Ihlas Fuarcilik (Organizer) General Manager cut the ribbon and addressed to the audience and media representatives at the inauguration ceremony .

There were 178 exhibitors from 23 countries on a space of 11.300 m2 and 21.198 visitors from 31 countries. It is obviously seen that there has been an increase in the number of exhibitors and visitors since the first debut, Boru 2005, up today.

Turkey has been developin into extremely important player in the tube & pipe industry worldwide for the last five years. Many tube &  pipe professionals are interested in what BORU FAIR can do to assist them in achieving their goals in the region covering Turkey, Balkans, Eastern Europe, all Middle East, Northern African countries, Turkic Republics and neighbor countries.

Turkey’s geographical position, with a foot in both Europe and Asia and its proximity to the very important Middle East, Gulf states and CIS markets means that the Turkish tube & pipe industry is uniquely situated to take advantage of the tremendous opportunities in many markets, whether they are the mature ones to the west or the rapidly developing ones to the east.

Turkey’s home market has given the background of an impressive rate of growth in the Turkish economy in recent years, nearly 10% in 2005.

Recent data from industry research specialists indicates that Turkish tube & pipe exports & imports increased significantly in 2007, particularly in the energy sector. Turkish Government has already announced to build a new Nuclear Power Plant till 2013 which shall be the third biggest one in the world with its capacity.

As for the BORU Fair’s location it is not surprising that many foreign exhibitors (46 companies 23 countries among 178 exhibitors) from TUBE & PIPE industry are choosing to showcase their technologies at this event, alongside local companies.

The intense competition that will undoubtedly be generated at BORU will be good for the industry in the long term as it will encourage companies to strive for continuous improvements to their processes and advances in technology.

Basically BORU event is the steadfast address in Turkey since there is no other specialized show on tube and pipe sector in the region.
